BASIC Stamp
BASIC Stamp ( BASIC postage stamp ) is the trademarked name for a family of programmed microcontroller building blocks of the company Parallax.
The first BASIC Stamp came onto the market in 1992 and combined a programmed PIC microcontroller with the most necessary peripherals on a small circuit board . While hitherto commonly microcontroller complex with development systems , usually in assembly language or a C - compiler be programmed had a BASIC was in the BASIC Stamp interpreter integrated. This allowed programs to be developed quickly on any personal computer and the finished code to be transferred to the controller with a simple connection cable. Although the programs on the first Basic Stamps ran relatively slowly, were subject to a number of restrictions and the stamps were comparatively expensive, the ease of use ensured that these mini-computers were distributed very quickly.
Basic stamps are available today in many designs, some with 16-bit processors, USB interfaces, A / D converters and other extensions.
