BESS polar

BESS-Polar is a scientific experiment to measure the flux of antiprotons , anti-α-particles and various atomic nuclei of light elements. It is launched with the help of an altitude balloon. It completed its first flight on December 13, 2004, from McMurdo Station in Antarctica .

Japanese scientists from the KEK Institute, the University of Tokyo and the Japanese space agency JAXA are involved in the project . They cooperate with their project partners from NASA and the University of Maryland.
