BIM collaboration format

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The BIM collaboration format (.bcf) is an openly documented file format that adds comments to aggregated BIM models.

It is used to structure and document the digital coordination between the models of the planners and specialists and enables the various parties to make coordination requests during the planning and construction phase, comment function in order to solve problems together.

The file format can be used independently of the BIM models, but is linked to the model elements via the GUID . This reference to the aggregated BIM technical models with simultaneous independent usability makes it possible for the format to serve as a communication between specialized parties with different software systems across locations as a digital coordination tool in complex planning tasks.

The file formats can be compared with "revision clouds" in conventional paper-based planning coordination as digital revision markup that enriches the BIM planning process for all those involved in planning and stakeholders.

The open file format is based on XML .
