The BMW Sauber F1.09 was the fourth and final Formula 1 - racing cars of BMW Sauber F1 . The car designed by Willy Rampf took part in all 17 races of the 2009 Formula 1 season , was driven by the Pole Robert Kubica and the German Nick Heidfeld and achieved two second places (Heidfeld at the Malaysian Grand Prix and Kubica at the Grand Prix of Brazil ) - whereby the team finished the constructors' championship with 36 points in its last season in sixth of ten places. The V8 engine P86 / 9 came from BMW and the Kinetic Energy Recovery System was used in five races , which was otherwise only used in the Ferrari F60 , McLaren MP4-24 and the Renault R29 .
