Bairakli Mosque (Samokow)
The Bairakli Mosque (also Bayraklı Mosque , Bulgarian Байракли джамия / Bajrakli jamija) is a mosque in Samokow in Bulgaria . The mosque is included in the list of Bulgarian cultural monuments of national importance.
history
The mosque was originally built in the 16th century as a rectangular, flat-roofed hall structure. It was extensively redesigned in the 1830s by masters of the Samokow School. In the 1950s and 1960s it was extensively restored by the architect Nikola Muchanow and the painter Georgi Belstoïnew and set up as a museum.
investment
It is a pure wood construction. The natural curvature of the wooden beams was used for the arches. During the renovation, the mosque was redesigned as a square central building with a pendent dome on four free-standing columns. The large prayer room is 14 × 14.5 m. The minaret is decorated with a spiral decoration made of bricks.
Furnishing
The ornamental frescoes were created by the painters Iwan Obrasopisow, Kosta Waljow and Christo Jowewitsch from Samokow.
