The 1996/97 season was the third season of the Balkan League , a supranational ice hockey league from Southeast Europe. Master was Sportul Studentesc Bucharest .

In the main round, each of the four teams played a total of six games. The first place in the main round was champion. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
