Banana spider
Various spiders are referred to as banana spiders, which occasionally find their way to other continents through the importation of banana fruits. The following spiders are often referred to as "banana spiders":
- The species of the genus Phoneutria within the family of the comb spiders (Ctenidae), ex. the Brazilian wandering spider ( P. nigriventer ).
- Occasionally also species of the genus Cupiennius within the family of fishing spiders (Trechaleidae), bsp. the great wandering spider ( C. salei ).
