The Bank Polskiej Spółdzielczości (BPS SA) is a Polish cooperative bank based in Warsaw . Together with 328 associated cooperative banks, it forms the BPS group, which represents roughly 2/3 of the cooperative banking sector.

history

It was founded on March 15, 2002 through the merger of six banks: Gospodarczy Bank Południe-Zachodni SA, Bank Unia Gospodarczej SA, Lubelski Bank Regionalny SA, Małopolski Bank Regionalny SA, Rzeszowski Bank Regionalny SA and Warmińsko-Mazurski Bank Regionalny SA.

In December 2015, the Polish Financial Supervisory Authority approved the BPS Group's protection system. The security system will support its participants in terms of liquidity and solvency through constant monitoring of the current situation of BPS Bank and the associated cooperative banks that fall under the security system, as well as the preventive and support measures planned within its framework. It will also provide the necessary assistance in the event that non-standard situations arise at any of the banks participating in the system.

Shareholder structure

The main shareholders of BPS are associated cooperative banks (approx. 80% of the shares), Asseco Poland, DZ Bank and Crédit Mutuel .

Business areas

The association of 328 cooperative banks created the largest association of cooperative banks in Poland. BPS Bank provides services for cooperative banks and is at the same time their business partner and representative. In addition, the company offers financial products for corporate customers, small and medium-sized companies and individual customers through a network of 33 branches. It specializes in local government, agriculture, food industry, commerce, handicrafts and tourism.

The BPS group only operates in Poland. All the cooperative banks operating in the country have a total of around 4,000 branches.
