The Banque d'Algérie ( Arabic بنك الجزائر, DMG Bank al-Ǧazāʾir , English: Bank of Algeria ) is the central bank of Algeria . The bank is based in Algiers and its current governor is Aimene Benabderrahmane (2019). The organization of the bank includes the Conseil de la Monnaie et du Crédit, the Commission Bancaire (Banking Commission) and the Banque d'Algérie itself.

The Banque d'Algérie defines the conditions under which banks and financial institutions in Algeria and abroad may operate and operate in Algeria. It also specifies the conditions under which such permission can be changed or revoked. The bank also issues the Algerian dinar , sets the key interest rate and manages the foreign exchange reserves .

The bank is a member of the Bank for International Settlements .

history

On December 13, 1962, the agreement to transfer the issuing privilege of the Bank of Algeria was signed. This agreement comprises two financial agreements between the Algerian Finance Minister Ahmed Francis and the French Ambassador Jean-Marcel Jeanneney on relations between the Algerian and French Finance Ministries and on the transfer of the Algerian Central Bank to the government of independent Algeria.
