Barbara Mensing

Barbara Mensing (born September 23, 1960 in Herten ) is a German archer.

Life

Mensing has been practicing her sport since 1974. In 1991 she made her debut in the national team.

Mensing works as a personnel clerk. She is married and has a son.

successes

  • multiple German champion (FITA and Halle)
  • German record over 30 m (353 rings with 36 arrows) and over 50 m (337 rings with 36 arrows)
  • European team champion in the hall in 1996, plus a third place in the individual and a third place with the team in 1998
  • 3 Grand Prix victories (1994, 1997, 1998), also once second (1995) and twice third (1997, 2000)
  • 2 times overall Grand Prix win (1997, 2000)
  • 2 times Vice European Champion with the team (1994, 2000) and once in the individual (1994)
  • Vice world champion in singles (1995)
  • 2 Olympic medals with the team (silver 1996, bronze 2000)

For winning the silver medal in 1996 and the bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics, she and the German archery team were awarded the silver laurel leaf.

She achieved the best placement in the world rankings in 1997 with fourth place.
