Arthur Nicolson, 1st Baron Carnock

Baron Carnock , of Carnock in the County of Stirling , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award and subordinate titles

The title was created on June 27, 1916 for the politician and diplomat Sir Arthur Nicolson, 11th Baronet . In 1899 he had inherited the title of Baronet , of Carnock in the County of Stirling, from his father, which had been bestowed on one of his ancestors in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia in 1636. His grandson, the 4th Baron, was also confirmed the title of 16th Baronet, of Lasswade, created in 1629 in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia in 1984, as well as the dignity of the hereditary Clan Chief of Clan Nicolson (of that Ilk).

Today's title holder is his second nephew Adam Nicolson as 5th Baron. So far, he has not formally proven his inheritance claims to the two baronetcies.
