Baron Strachie

Baron Strachie , of Sutton Court in the County of Somerset , was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award and expiration

The title was created on May 11, 1835 for the House of Commons Sir Edward Strachey, 4th Baronet . He had inherited from his father in 1901 the title of Baronet , of Sutton Court in the County of Somerset, which had been bestowed on June 15, 1801 in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom to his ancestor Henry Strachey (1737-1810).

With the death of his son, the 2nd baron, on May 17, 1973, the barony expired and the claim to the baronetcy fell to a nephew of the second degree.
