Baron de Freyne
Baron de Freyne , is a hereditary British title of nobility awarded twice in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Until 1952, the family seat of the barons was Frenchpark House in Frenchpark in County Roscommon .
Awards
In the first bestowal, the title of Baron de Freyne , of Coolavin in the County of Sligo , was bestowed on May 16, 1839, the MP Arthur French . Since his wife had died in 1843 and he remained childless, he was awarded the title Baron de Freyne , of Artagh in the County of Roscommon , on April 5, 1851 , with the special addition that this title in the absence of male descendants of his own also to his brothers John French, Charles French, and Fitzstephen French and their male descendants.
On his death on September 29, 1856, the title of the first award expired accordingly; the title of the second bestowal fell to his brother John as 2nd Baron and, on his childless death on August 22, 1863, to his brother Charles as 3rd Baron. Today's title holder has been the eponymous great-great grandson of the latter as the 8th Baron since 2009.
