Barre , also Barra , was a Spanish measure of length. It corresponded to the cubit measure and was used in the textile trade. There were three different types: the Valencian, the Castilian and the Aragon barre. Metric values are widely scattered through the Aune / Pariser Elle, as this was different in every region and time.

  • Valencia 1 bar = 2 feet, 9 inches, 7 lines = 10/13 Paris cubits
    • 13 Valencian bars = about 10 aune
  • Castile 1 bar = 2 feet, 7 inches, 2 lines = 5/7 aune
    • 7 Castilian bars = 5 aune

The Aragon bar differs only a few lines from the Valencian and Castilian bar.
