Coordinates: 30 ° 13 ′ 38 ″  N , 35 ° 32 ′ 0 ″  O Basta is a village in southern Jordan that becamefamousfor a prehistoric site. Like the nearby Ba'ja , itbelongs tothe PPNB and was settled around 9000 years ago. Basta is one of the earliest rural settlements in the region and shows a range of finds that indicate connections to more distant regions.
