The Leinefelde cotton spinning and twisting mill was an industrial company in Leinefelde in Thuringia .

Company history

With the Eichsfeld plan the industrialization of should Eichsfeld be advanced. Due to the geographical conditions and the conveniently located railway connection, Leinefelde was selected as the location of the large company, construction began in 1961. The expansion of the production facilities of the VEB cotton spinning and twisting mill Leinefelde and other companies led to a strong increase in the population of Leinefelde. The village of 2,500 inhabitants in 1969 became the town of Leinefelde with around 16,500 inhabitants in 1990.

With the reunification of Germany , yarn production fell from 16,000 tons in the year to 6,000 tons in 1992, the number of employees fell from around 4,500 to 380 and continued to decrease over the years. The company then traded as Leinefelder Textilwerke GmbH and came to the stocking manufacturer Falke . In 2013 the company filed for bankruptcy.
