Mechanics of a clavichord

The exercise is the vibrato , which is created in the clavichord by changing the pressure on the key and thus the pressure of the tangent against the string .

function

In Johann Georg Sulzer's General Theory of Fine Arts of 1771 it says: " The tremble of a note is an extremely rapid alternation of height and depth, as well as of its strength and weakness, during its duration, whereby it, without losing its nature, get something diverse. " A beat changes the tension of the string and thus the frequency of the sound produced. The Sulzer Encyclopedia explains: "When the tones are quivering, the stronger and weaker, the higher and the deeper alternate with such rapidity that the alternation itself is not clear, and this gives the tone something gentle and, as it were, undulating." . In musical notation, an exercise is indicated by dots with an arc above the note.
