Begtse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Begtse ( Tib . : beg tse ; Sanskrit : Prana Atma ; German: copper tank shirt ) was originally a Central Asian god of war . He appeared in the pantheon of Tibetan Buddhism in the second half of the 16th century and is one of the lesser protective deities there . Legend has it that he was the son of a yaksha and a rakshasi . It is not a yidam and since it is not said to have achieved full liberation itself, one cannot take refuge in it.

In the Hayagriva practice cycle, he is the main protector.
