Gueridon

Gueridon

The Guéridon is a small table that is used in living rooms or in restaurants. The name is derived from a young black slave from a 1644 comedy called Guéridon, who wears a candelabra.

Living area

Gueridons are used in different places in the living area, e.g. B. next to a sofa or an armchair , as storage space or for decorative objects. In the 17th century, the piece of furniture was mostly made as a "tray-carrying negro" and was part of the standard furnishings of a luxury apartment at that time.

Restaurant area

In a restaurant, a gueridon is a small waiter's table that is the same height as the restaurant table . The service staff needs the table for work that they carry out in front of the guests. The side table is provided with a cutlery pocket and serving cutlery . If necessary, the side table is placed at the guest's table. On it is carved , served, filleted , flambéed , provided food for the after-warm, and served the wine.
