Mountain railway seaman
The mountain railway seaman is a dying profession in Switzerland and Austria .
Crew members of the tour ships that sailed on Lake Lucerne received special training in how to operate the funicular railway . When a ship docked in Treib , a member of the crew took on the role of cable car operator for the Treib-Seelisberg-Bahn (TSB). Conversely, the mountain railway personnel were trained to become sailors. These were still in service on the ships in 2005. By modernizing the mountain railway, the mountain railway seaman became superfluous.
Aside from Treib, this profession also existed on Lake Zug and in Austria on Lake Wolfgang .
