Berlin Ball Game Association

The Berliner Ballspiel-Bund (BBB) was a local football association in the former capital of Berlin. The BBB was founded on January 1st, 1905 to give new or very small clubs a chance to play.

The first federal championship began in early February 1905 in a division with seven clubs and was played in a single round. Two clubs left the BBB at the end of February. Since only seven of the twelve results were reported in the contemporary sports press, the master is unknown. Due to the few member clubs and the widespread problem of not appearing at the scheduled championship games, especially in Berlin, the federal government was probably dissolved again in the year it was founded.

On March 13, 1907, the Berlin Ballspiel-Bund was re-established and recorded a significantly larger influx of interested clubs than its predecessor. A total of 17 clubs with 26 teams participated in three classes in the league game in the 1907/08 season. There was also a summer round in two divisions.

The last season (1909/10) of the Berliner Ballspiel-Bund was chaotic. Of the seven clubs that started in 1st class, two left the federal government in November 1909 and a third club followed at the end of February 1910. After the two leading clubs left at the end of the season, only two clubs remained. Of the eight clubs in the 2nd class, one resigned from the federal government before the start of the season, two other clubs were later excluded because the association fees had not been paid, and a third club was disqualified after failing to appear three times. The situation was no better in 3rd grade either, only three of the seven clubs that started in autumn were still members of the BBB at the end of the season. Probably the Berlin Ballspiel-Bund was dissolved in the spring or summer of 1910.
