Bettenach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bettenach is a deserted area in the municipality of Lausen BL . The name of the settlement (mentioned in 1329), which is no longer known today, suggests a settlement that was built on the site of a villa from Roman times.

The assumption is confirmed by the discovery of a Roman aqueduct . Pit houses and a burial chapel are documented from the early Middle Ages, in the place of which later churches were built. Although the village was abandoned around 1200, the Lausen church still stands here today.
