Evaluation system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An evaluation system is a scheme for evaluating applications, processes or people.

General

An evaluation system is intended to classify what has been evaluated in a comparable manner by assigning it a grade or number of points, for example. The use of an evaluation system increases both the transparency and the informative value of the evaluation, since what has been evaluated was determined by objective criteria. This reveals in a comprehensible manner which characteristic or characteristic expression was decisive for the result of the evaluation. This facilitates a more structured approach to business planning and quality management .

The evaluation system plays great relevance in areas such as the care report , in scientific work or for optimization and monitoring processes in industry.

Development of an evaluation system

The aim of an evaluation system is to use data to make statements about one or more properties of an object, system or person. So there should be a specific evaluation.

This is possible in that features, i.e. properties or variables, are checked for their characteristics. The so-called characteristic value describes how what is evaluated behaves in the corresponding characteristic. The characteristic must have different characteristics. If there is only one characteristic expression, the characteristic is constant and so senseless as such should be included in the evaluation. If, for example, we rate apples on their appearance and a characteristic would be the color, whereby all apples are red, then the characteristic color can also be omitted, as this would not result in any evaluation difference.

By weighting the features, each feature can be assigned a certain relevance. The choice of the characteristics, the characteristics of the characteristics and the weighting of the characteristics are decisive for the informative value and meaningfulness of the evaluation results. Since even similar applications differ, at least in detail, and therefore have different requirements for their features, characteristic values and weightings, a new evaluation system must be created for almost every application.

When creating an evaluation system, it is important to ensure that what is evaluated has all the characteristics that are included in the evaluation. Since this is the only way to make a meaningful holistic assessment. For example, if we want to evaluate how aggressive an animal is and a characteristic of the evaluation system is barking, with the characteristic expression barked or not barked, no relevant evaluation can be expected when testing a cat, since an aggressive cat would not bark either. Often, when creating a suitable evaluation system, the selection of suitable characteristics is started. The evaluation result can then be adjusted by specifying the weightings.

Evaluation system of the degree of care

In Germany , the degree of long-term care has been determined using a legally prescribed, standardized assessment system since January 1, 2017. It is a point system.

The assessment of the degree of care takes place in six differently weighted modules, each of which receives a number of points through sub-categories. These sub-categories, which inquire about a characteristic of independent action, are rated by an expert with a score between zero and three. These stand for the strength of the impairment of independence.

The total is calculated from the scores for the criteria and thus the strength of the deficit for the respective module is determined.

The module is assessed in ascending order in five degrees of severity. No, minor, significant, major and major deficits. A total number of points is now assigned to the respective module according to the weighting. The weighting results from the different possible maximum number of points in the individual modules. If there is a high deficit in a module, the number of points for the corresponding module is also high, with the highest possible deficit also corresponding to the highest possible number of points.

Then the sum of the module points is converted into the care level. As in the module evaluation, the evaluation runs on a scale from zero to four, i.e. from no to the most severe impairment. These levels correspond to the level of care. The maximum number of points for all modules is 100, with an interval being assigned to each maintenance level .
