Biel talks

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bieler Talks is the name of a trilingual literary event that has been held annually since 2008, at which authors and translators come together in Biel / Bienne BE to discuss their texts and translations. The event is organized and supported by the association of the same name (based in Biel / Bienne) and the responsible preparatory group.

Every year, the association calls on professional and non-professional literary authors and translators from Switzerland and the surrounding countries to submit texts for the upcoming Biel Talks. The texts selected by the jury - mainly short prose and poetry - will be presented to the participating translators for translation into the other national languages. At the beginning of the year there is a meeting in Biel or the surrounding area, at which around 60 writers discuss their texts and their translations, as well as current writing conditions in general.
