Space-saving stacking of beer tables and benches

A beer kit , Beer Tent or marquee set (in Austria in some places heuriger set and in the Pfalz Kerwe set called) is a combination of a beer table and two beer benches . These are usually simple wooden tables and benches with collapsible metal legs. Beer sets are manufactured identically as series goods and are therefore easy to stack and transport. They are robust and weatherproof. The beer bench set was developed by the Swabian entrepreneur Rudolf Kurz in the 1950s.

Most often - often in the hundreds - you can find beer sets in beer tents , but they can also be found in beer gardens in the warm season. They are also often used at parties.

history

In the 1950s, the Swabian entrepreneur Rudolf Kurz recognized the need to develop a sturdy folding table for use at wine festivals. The decisive idea was a patented flip lock to connect the frame and table top.

At the Munich Oktoberfest, beer sets did not gain acceptance until the 1970s.

Components

Beer table

Old variant with wooden legs

The beer table consists of a wooden table top on often lacquered metal legs (sometimes also wooden legs in the past). The plate typically measures 220 centimeters by 50 centimeters, occasionally you can also see a wider version measuring 220 centimeters by 80 centimeters. The legs contain a simple mechanism by means of which they can be folded in flat and fixed in the open or folded position. Typically a table is 77 centimeters high. They are available in different variations and colors; mostly natural, orange or green.

Beer bench

The beer benches are usually made in the same design as the beer tables. The beer bench is a wooden bench on metal legs measuring 220 centimeters by 25 centimeters. A bench is typically 47.5 centimeters high and the legs can be folded away. A beer bench offers space for four to five adults, so that a maximum of ten people can sit at a beer set. The beer table and bench are usually equipped with wooden stacking strips on the underside so that they do not lie on the folded steel legs in the stack.

variants

Marquee set with a little more legroom

In addition to the classic sizes, there are also beer sets in various other sizes and in children's sizes. Other variants are beer sets in a round shape, with legs bent inwards or bench elements with backrests.
