The concert hall

Bierhübeli [ˌbiə̯rˈhʏbəli] is the name of a concert hall and the neighboring group of houses in Bern .

It is located on Neubrückstrasse, an old arterial road that rises steeply from the city center to the Brückfeld plateau. The houses at the top of the slope have had the name, which means beer hill in Bern German , since the end of the 18th century. An inn was already in use there in 1729. This burned down in 1847; Its name is now a building from 1912. Today, Bierhübeli GmbH is run by Nando Hepp and Dave Naef.

The history of the Bierhübeli is closely linked to the founding history of the Bernese farmers 'and citizens' party . At the end of November 1917, the agricultural functionary Rudolf Minger proposed the establishment of his own farmers' party, which later developed into the farmers', trade and citizens' party , which together with the democratic parties of the cantons of Glarus and Graubünden founded the Swiss People's Party (SVP) in 1971 .
