Under Bigeminy ( lat. Geminus "double"), also called "twin pulse" is understood in medicine Doppelschlägigkeit the pulse. This is a cardiac arrhythmia in which every systole is followed by an (usually ventricular) extrasystole . If an extrasystole follows not every but every second regularly excited systole, one speaks of the trigeminal nerve , and when the extrasystole follows three regular systoles , one speaks of the quadrigeminus .
