The Dana Biosphere Reserve is the largest nature reserve in Jordan at 320 square kilometers . It is located about 20 km south of Tafileh on the Königsstrasse. The biosphere reserve established in 1989 is the oldest of eight Jordanian nature reserves. The Dana Biosphere Reserve includes the Wadi Dana with its side valleys. The difference in altitude in this mountainous region ranges from 300  m above sea level. NN up to 1700  m high rock plateaus. Most of the reserve can only be reached on foot via hiking trails. In Dana, mostly gentle tourism is practiced, which is in harmony with nature. There is only one resthouse - there will only be large hotel castles again in Petra.

Flora and fauna

There are over 800 species of plants in the Dana Reserve. There are only three of them here. Dana is also home to numerous birds and mammals. These include endangered species such as the Nubian ibex , the desert lynx , the striped hyena and the cedar girl .
