Pear garden

The Birngarten ( Chinese  梨園  /  梨园 , Pinyin Liyuan ) was the first academy for theater, drama and music in China. It was founded by Emperor Xuanzong (712–755) during the Tang Dynasty . Actors in the Middle Kingdom still call themselves “students of the pear garden” today.
