The Bismarck Mountains are the name of a mountain range in Papua New Guinea (former German colony Kaiser-Wilhelms-Land ). It is named after Otto von Bismarck , the first Reich Chancellor of the German Empire .

The Bismarck Mountains belong to the central chain of mountains of New Guinea and are mainly located in the Madang Province . The highest peak is Mount Wilhelm at 4,509 m, which is also the highest point in Papua New Guinea. In the northwest is Mount Aiome with a height of 2,845 m. The river Ramu rises in the east of the mountains , this is the most important river in the province of Madang and is navigable in the lower reaches. The Yuat rises in the west , an important tributary of the Sepik , which circles the mountains to the west and north.

Parts of the mountain range are protected by the Bayir River National Park. The mountains are rarely covered by snow. The towns of Bundi and Samiri on the northern edge of the mountains are among the largest settlements on the edge of the mountains.
