Bismarck Tower Sorau

The Bismarck Tower Sorau is a never completed Bismarck Tower near Sorau (today Żary ) in Silesia . Construction began on April 1, 1914, but the work was suspended in June 1914 due to a construction workers' strike, so that by the outbreak of World War I a height of only 25 meters was reached instead of the planned 42 meters.

After the beginning of the war, the construction work was stopped and later not resumed. In the 1970s, the tower was converted into a fire watch tower , for which it received a wooden scaffolding on the top. This was removed in 2002. Today the tower fell into disrepair.
