The Bobiri Wildlife Reserve (English. The Bobiri Forest Reserve ) is a 5465 hectare forest reserve in Ghana .

location

The reserve is located in the south of the country, about 175 kilometers (as the crow flies) northwest of the capital Accra and about 30 kilometers east of the city of Kumasi in the Ashanti region .

description

The sanctuary was founded in 1939, by decision of the British colonial administration of the then crown colony Gold Coast . Bobiri is a butterfly area where around 500 different species can be observed. For this purpose, flower meadows were created in some parts, which should serve as a source of attraction for the many butterflies. A tour on the forest floor was laid out in order to be able to inspect the extensive tree population. Other animals such as antelopes and a large number of birds can also be seen here.

The reserve can be reached from the capital via Konongo-Ejisu-Road , the nearest place is the small town of Kubease .
