Box calf

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As boxcalf refers leather of veal.

It is chrome-tanned , dyed through or just primed. Then a covering of opaque paint is applied over the leather. If the box calf is dyed through , in some cases it is peeled , which changes the natural appearance of the fine grain , which is difficult to see in a milk calf. The special features of box calf leather are its slightly shaded look, the silky sheen and the very fine, even grain.

This leather is used to make high-quality women's and men's shoes and fine handbags.
