The former weighbridge in Fernitz in the municipality of Fernitz-Mellach in Styria dates from the first half of the 20th century and is now a listed building.

history

The public weighbridge was built in the first half of the 20th century. It was mainly used by the local farmers. In 2005, use was discontinued after a new heavy-duty weighbridge was built. After it was decommissioned, the weighbridge house was renovated and a round ice pavilion was added.

layout

The weighbridge consists of the actual weighbridge and a small house. The actual scale is a rolling weight scale with a load capacity of 25 tons. It was manufactured by C. Schember & Sons . A round ice pavilion designed by architect Oswald Madritsch was added to the house as part of a renovation. The technical equipment of the scale was preserved and is functional. The house is now home to the electrical circuit for lighting the adjacent park.
