Brahin (meteorite)

The Brahin meteorite was found by farmers in 1807 near the Brahin settlement in Homelskaya Woblasz, now Belarus, in what was then the Russian Empire .

It was the second meteorite find in Russia after the discovery of Krasnoyarsk in 1749. The main mass weighed about 850 kg. The meteorite comes from the asteroid belt and is classified as pallasite , a group of stone-iron meteorites .

Chemical composition: 36.5% SiO 2 ; 13.7% FeO; 43.2% MgO; 0.3% MnO; 3.82% P 2 O 5
