Bridesmaids (1933)

The bridesmaids are companions of the bride.

They were originally there to distract evil spirits from the bride . They put on beautiful clothes in order to look like the bride and thus confuse the evil spirits: Should an evil spirit decide to want to cast the bride, he had several women dressed in the same dress to choose from and could not determine which was the real one Bride was. The bridesmaid thus represented protection from all spiritual dangers. Her male counterpart, the bride and groom , originally had the task of protecting the bride from earthly dangers such as looters.

Nowadays, after the groomsmen , the bridesmaid is often the bride's most important helper in the preparations for the wedding celebration . She should be single and know the bride very well, maybe even be related to her or the groom . On the wedding day , the bridesmaid is the most important help for the bride; she accompanies them in the wedding procession to the church or goes with the bride and groom directly behind the bride and groom, wears a train that may be present and takes the bridal bouquet from her during the wedding ceremony.
