Baffle plate conveyor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A baffle plate conveyor or brake conveyor is a device in mining that is used to convey coal downwards over chutes with an incline of more than 18 ° in order to prevent the otherwise high sliding speed from creating too much unwanted fine coal or coal dust. In the chute, plates attached to a chain (baffle plates) run down at low speed to slow down the coal.
