Brixton Station

Brixton is an underground station on the London Underground in the London Borough of Lambeth . The southern terminus of the Victoria Line is in the Travelcard tariff zone 2 on Brixton High Street. In 2013, 27.22 million passengers used the station. The station of the same name is located around 100 meters north on the viaduct of the Chatham Main Line .

The station opened on June 23, 1971, along with the southernmost section to Victoria . Three escalators lead from the ticket hall to the platforms. The tracks end bluntly, there is no turning system. Both arriving and departing trains can use both tracks. There is a platform change immediately north of the station . The numerous train crossings reduce the maximum possible capacity of the line. For this reason, a single-track reversing loop is planned that will extend to Herne Hill station, 1.2 kilometers further southeast .
