As a Brownbag session (Engl. Brown bag , dt. Brown bag ) or Brownbag session or seminar referred to a training or information session , during which listeners can enjoy the food and drinks.

The aim is to use regular breaks , e.g. B. the lunch break to convey information. Brownbag sessions are often characterized by voluntary participation and an informal atmosphere.

The term brown bag refers to the food packages brought by the participants themselves or provided by the organizer. These are typically packed in brown paper bags, especially in the USA, even if similar events are known there as lunch-and-learn. There are Brownbag events e.g. B. at universities and in companies. Unpublished research projects are usually presented at university brownbag events. A brownbag session is often followed by a discussion.
