Book card

A book card is a library document that is used in the administration of book lending .

Description and application

The basic data of a book (author, title, signature ) are initially noted on a book card. The majority of the card is used to write down the name or user number of the borrower and usually also the date of the loan.

The book card is usually in a pocket attached to the front or rear inner cover . If a book is borrowed, the card is removed, the borrower's data and the loan period are entered. The book card remains in a file in the library during the loan period. For the borrower, the return date is usually noted on a deadline sheet in the book. When the book is returned, the data on the book card is compared with that on the deadline sheet, the book card is stowed back in the pocket in the book cover.
