Bulk Richardson Number

In meteorology, the bulk Richardson number is a dimensionless number in connection with vertical stratification stability and vertical wind shear . (in general: stability divided by shear). A high value means an unstable environment and / or an area with less wind shear. Generally, a value in the range of 50 to 100 indicates environmental conditions that are ideal for supercell formation .
