The Federation of Swiss Landscape Architects (BSLA) is the professional association of landscape architects in Switzerland.

Founded in Zurich in 1925 as the Federation of Swiss Garden Designers, merged in 1994 with the Association of Swiss Landscape Planners and Landscape Architects slpa, the BSLA now has over 600 members. He sees himself as a mouthpiece for independent, salaried and civil servant landscape architects who are active in planning. But landscape architects in teaching and research as well as young professionals are also represented in the BSLA. The BSLA fulfills an important joint task for the profession and society with the aim of sustainably ensuring the quality of the designed environment in Switzerland.

The BSLA sees itself as a mouthpiece for independent, salaried and civil servant landscape architects who are active in planning. Landscape architects in teaching and research as well as young professionals are also represented in the BSLA.

The BSLA is a member of the Swiss Association of Engineers and Architects (SIA), building Switzerland, and the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA).

Services

The BSLA carries out public relations work for the profession and represents their interests in relation to politics, administration and business. In addition to basic and advanced training, the task at the federal, cantonal and municipal level is to secure and expand the fields of activity of landscape architects.

The BSLA offers its members a network for the exchange of experiences and forms the platform for technical and professional engagement.

The “Handbuch Schweizer Landschaftsarchitektur” (Handbook of Swiss Landscape Architecture), which is published every two years, and the office directory at www.bsla.ch provide potential clients, specialist agencies and authorities with the latest information on the range of services offered by the associated planning offices.

As a founding member of the Swiss Foundation for Landscape Architecture and through publications and partnerships, the BSLA is committed to the recognition, preservation and further development of gardens and landscapes as important cultural assets.
