particularities

This constituency is the only one of the 299 Bundestag constituencies in Germany in which Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen has been able to win a direct mandate. Hans-Christian Ströbele already succeeded in doing this in 2002 , 2005 , 2009 and 2013 . Canan Bayram was able to continue this special feature in 2017. In addition, this constituency with 18 candidates was the constituency in the 2017 federal election in which voters had the largest selection of direct candidates. Another special feature is that this constituency with 26.9 square kilometers is the smallest Bundestag constituency in Germany, in contrast to the Bundestag constituency Mecklenburgische Seenplatte II - Rostock III district , which is the largest with 6250.3 square kilometers.
