Hope Valley bunker
The Hope Valley bunker is located in the Rösrath district of Hope Valley .
Building history
In November 1943, construction of the air raid shelter began. The employees in the nearby town hall, teachers and students at a school and the workers from the Reusch company, who were making bombs at the time, were particularly worthy of protection. 800 people should find space in the tunnel. At the far end of the tunnel that was driven into the mountain, fresh spring water still runs into a basin today. The water flows off through a sewer along the approx. 50 meter long main corridor. Recesses in the masonry suggest several toilets with urinals and showers, as well as a larger wash trough. Installations such as cisterns or toilets are no longer available. An emergency exit with double-leaf gas protection doors has been preserved. When the facility was completed in autumn 1944, the originally planned generator set and the planned heating and hot water preparation were missing.
Film set
The corpse at the crime scene with the title “ Fat Dogs ” (episode 841, first broadcast on September 2, 2012) is found in a bunker. The shooting for the bunker scene took place in the Hope Valley bunker.
