The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms ( ATF ) was a US federal agency under the United States Department of the Treasury .

It was split into two agencies in March 2003 by the Homeland Security Act of November 25, 2002.
The successor authorities are
- the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), which essentially takes over the tasks of the previous authority. It was subordinated to the Ministry of Justice and is responsible for enforcement tasks.
- the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), which has remained in the Ministry of Finance and takes over the fiscal tasks of the previous authority.
