Bruchmühlen Castle

The castle Bruchmühlen , even Good Bruchmühlen called, is an Outbound Wasserburg at the Else in the district Bruchmühlen (An der Allee 14) the city of Melle in the district of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony .

The moated castle, built in a damp valley on the Else, was first mentioned in 1322 as a manor and gave the place its name to Bruchmühlen (Brokmole-Mühle im Bruche). The castle with the dimensions of 220 by 180 meters was protected by a double moat system . In 1573 the manor house was rebuilt and a cattle house was built. In 1610 two gatehouses were built and in 1795 the mansion was demolished. The remains were converted into a cigar factory in 1864.

In 1990 a gatehouse belonging to the estate was demolished and a new one, similar to the old one, was built, which has served as a village community center since May 8, 1992 , is called the "arched house" and is connected to a multi-purpose hall via an intermediate wing . Only a few walled-in sandstones of the former castle can be seen.
