Business Cycles

Business Cyles ( Eng . "Business Cycles") is the work of the economist Joseph Schumpeter . It first appeared in 1939. Its full title is Business Cycles. A Theoretical, Historical and Statistical Analysis of the Capitalist Process.

The work contains a very detailed investigation of cyclical fluctuations which are peculiar to the capitalist economic system. According to Schumpeter, the economic development process is characterized by discontinuous innovations. The cumulative occurrence of innovation ensures positive economic boosts. Schumpeter exemplifies his theses with extensive historical accounts of key innovations such as railway construction (Chapter VII, C).

For a long time, the work was overshadowed by John Maynard Keynes's work The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money , which received a lot of attention immediately after its publication in 1936 because of its economic-political aspects.
