The Bucher Verlag is an imprint of the publishing house GeraNova Bruckmann . The managing directors are Clemens Schüssler, Henry Allgaier and Claus W. Küster.

The publisher publishes illustrated non-fiction books on the subject of history. Bucher Verlag has been part of the GeraNova Bruckmann publishing house since 2004.

In 1870 Joseph Lorenz Bucher bought a printing company in Lucerne . His son Carl Joseph Bucher, who gave the company its name Bucher Verlag, formerly CJ Bucher Verlag GmbH, made it a leading printing and publishing house in Lucerne. Until after the Second World War, Bucher mainly published magazines - including a. a. the Lucerne latest news , specialist journals and commissioned productions.

Alice Bucher took over the company in 1941 and expanded its publishing activities from the 1950s onwards. 1956 began with the color picture book Greece , which appeared as a co-production in seven countries simultaneously, the publication of travel picture books and illustrated non-fiction books. In the 1960s, the illustrated non-fiction books The Kingdom of the Horse , and photo books such as the men and the German living room appeared . The series Bucher's miniatures in 1976 comprised 38 volumes, Example The Rhine in poetry and color photographs .

In 1981 the publishing house moved to Munich. After the takeover by the publishing house GeraNova Bruckmann, the program was expanded to include illustrated non-fiction books on the subjects of photography, man and nature, history, art and architecture. Bucher Verlag has published exclusively on historical topics since 2010 and publishes both illustrated volumes and non-fiction books on contemporary history. Licensed titles and international co-productions are also part of the book program.
