The CAB GY-30 Supercab was a two-seat , low-wing , light aircraft that was built in France from 1954 .

development

The GY-30 was a further development of the CAB Minicab. The design comes from Yves Gardan (1925–2009), a former designer for the SIPA aviation company . The abbreviation GY stood for the signature of the designer. The machines were manufactured by Constructions aéronautiques du Béarn (CAB) at Pau-Pyrenees Airport .

The main changes to the Supercab were a more powerful engine, a larger wingspan, a manually retractable tail wheel landing gear and slotted flaps . The first flight was on February 5, 1954. A total of seven copies of the GY-30 Supercab were built. Due to a slowdown in the light aircraft market at that time, production was discontinued. One machine was privately owned by the French aircraft designer Charles Fauvel until it crashed on September 10, 1979 .
