Computerized Maintenance Management System
The term Computerized Maintenance Management System ( CMMS , in German Maintenance Planning and Control System ( IPS) , also Enterprise Asset Management ) describes the systematic support of maintenance processes by software .
CMMS software manages maintenance-relevant information in a database. This database supports the daily work processes of the maintenance staff (example: provision of order information for spare parts) and can serve as a basis for optimizing the maintenance processes (example: optimization of downtimes by bringing forward inspections).
Typical components of the CMMS are:
- Management of maintenance and inspection plans (regularly recurring tasks)
- Maintenance orders: administration, planning, cost control and documentation
- Asset management : device data, manuals, checklists, warranty information, inspection intervals, service contracts, date of purchase, expected service life
- Warehouse management: Management and organization of spare parts, tools, aids and consumables
- Statistical analysis: number of necessary maintenance work, date of the last inspection, runtime information
- Evaluations and reports to support a continuous improvement process (CIP)
- Key figure calculation according to DIN
- Comparison of planned and actual data (such as times, materials, costs)
- Asset costs
